Anemia
Approximately 3.4 million people have anemia in the United States. Anemia
affects people of all ages. Blood is made up of three kinds of cells. It is made up of red blood cells, platelets, and white blood cells. The red blood cell contains something called hemoglobin. Hemoglobin is a red, iron rich protein. The hemoglobin carries oxygen throughout the body. Oxygen gives the body energy when the hemoglobin carries it into
organs, tissues, and muscles.
