6. What are your career aspirations and how can Harvard Business School help you reach them?
Throughout my career, I have felt consistently challenged by and interested in my work, but at the same time realized that ultimately, I will be most fulfilled in a career that is socially responsible and personally meaningful. To reconcile this personal dilemma at a time when I could not compromise my salary, I began volunteering with Street Project. Initially, I worked as a team leader on one of the organization's endeavors, the Mott Hall School, where I created and taught a weekly enrichment program in Harlem. After a year with Street Project, I was elected to the Executive Board, where I worked on a number of organizational and operational issues to help grow and better the organization. My passion for Street Project continues on the west coast as I am in the process of starting an LA branch of the Mott Hall program. My experience with Street Project has led me to discover that my true career aspirations revolve around social entrepreneurship. My goal is to eventually start a non-profit organization focused on youth and education, more specifically, an alternative school.
My experience has taught me that to succeed in business, I will need a solid foundation of subject areas including finance, accounting and statistics...
