People like many other things are invariably different. This concept is just as relevant in the workforce. Since diversity is a standard in today’s workforce it is important that organizational behavior (OB) is implemented to maintain a working environment that supports employees of all skills and backgrounds. It is my feeling that people are unique and should be treated as individuals. Though there are many talented people within various organizations, it has been said, “no man is an island.”(Donne) What this means it that everybody needs the support of someone. To ensure added success within this organization, it is important for all personnel to have a strong understanding of OB. The workforce is made up of different types of people. They vary from different generations, ethnic background, sex and individual skill. These are just the some of the elements we are able to see. Other things that can affect a person and their ability are health concerns, life stress and other disabilities. The point is that it is important to create an environment that will reduce the many judgments that are made based on surface information versus real facts Another thing to consider is an individual’s drive and how it relates to their specific job. Meaning some people driven by their goals, and their sole focus is on producing results with little concern of the personal cost. Another classification would be goal oriented, which can be generalized as people who work towards a common good and are flexible on how it is done.
