How exactly did Macbeth arrive at the decision to murder Duncan?
Introduction
The audience's first impressions of Macbeth come from act 1 scene 2 where Duncan quotes him as a 'worthy gentleman, valiant cousin' he is portrayed as a loyal subject, honest, a good solider and very brave. The good king Duncan things very highly of Macbeth and thinks him trust worthy. He is shown to have a stable mind He seems a man too good to be true.
Meeting Macbeth
In act 1 scene three we meet Macbeth, he is returning from the battle with his good friend Banquo. As they are returning they meet the witches. In this scene Macbeth accepts what these three women say very openly. As they tell him of his future fortune he is attentive and very curious 'all hail, Macbeth! Hail to be, thane of Glamis, all hail Macbeth! Hail to be thane of cawdor, all hail Macbeth that shalt be king hereafter...
