The Bible’s Accuracy: Reliable or Not? Have you ever seen a million dollars, in hard, cold cash? I know for the most of us, we haven’t. Many if not all of us probably have not even seen an amount of cash that could remotely be in the same proximity and number range as a million dollars. But does that mean that you don’t believe a million dollars exists? In that same sense, just because we can’t see the miracles that Jesus performed during His life on earth, nor witness the actual events, places, and people, it doesn’t mean that it doesn’t exist. So what are your chances of ever seeing a million dollars in cash? Probably somewhere around one in a million. And your chances of turning back time to go back to Jesus’ time period? Non-existent. There are so many different types of evidences that substantiate the Bible’s accuracy. However, in the world we live in these days, it seems that only when the proof is tangible or able to be grasped by one of our five senses, do we come to realize that it must be the truth. For instance, there is historical truth, scientific evidence, and prophetic corroboration that stand behind the Bible’s claim to accuracy. First, we will delve into the historicity that has yet to fail to disprove the reliability of the Bible. There are forty-seven foreign kings mentioned in the Bible – but there were no known references to these kings outside of the Bible, so secular historians assumed that they hadn’t existed. However, as time went on and more discoveries were made, non-Biblical references to each of the forty-seven kings were found, verifying their existence and the accuracy of the Bible. One such king was Sargon, the king of Assyria who captured Ashdod. His palace was discovered in Iraq, with the capture of Ashdod recorded on its walls. Also, historians used to think the Bible was incorrectly written when it mentions Abraham taking camel with him to Egypt (Genesis 12:16) because they believed that camels weren’t existent in Egypt at the time.
