INTRODUCTION
Marks and Spencer is the largest retailer in the UK. The company sells foods, household products and provides financial services. Until the late 1990s M&S had been successful in both profit and market shares. However, the environment of retailer business has changed for years. Marks and Spencer is not the only retailer who sells cloths, foods and home items. There are many competitors in both textiles and foods market. While M&S tries to keep its market shares, the other competitors also tries to increase their sales. This led the company to the big crisis in 1998.
