In the film "Mr. Smith Goes To Washington" I the viewer learned many of the inner working of the senate, including normal working of the everyday senate and the inner political machines which govern them.
In the film I learned what a Filibuster was and how it is used to your advantage. A Filibuster is where a senator or House Member get up and takes control of the floor to help pass the bill which is being discussed. In the Film Mr. Smith holds a Filibuster to help his bill get approved and to make the corrupt senator Paine crack. Smith held the floor for 26 hrs and made Paine crack into giving away his and the political machine "Taylor" corruption. I also learned of the influence of the political machine in voting and other governmental proceedings. A political machine is a originations that gains control of political activities of a local origination made of new politicians, sort of like a political mob.
