The Constitution was written for many reasons but one espescially was to correctand over throw The Articles of Confederation. Th Articles gave the power to the individual states , and limited the power of the central government. Congress gave all authority to the states and left it with no powers over the nations economic affairs. The weakness of the Articles is that it is legialated for states but not for individuals. Congress had no power to tax or regulate trade, it lacked power to control commerce and was to difficult to change. The Constitution gave more powers to congress. Congress now had the power to tax, borrow coined money, regulate commerce. States were no onger allowed to pass tariffs or issue money.
