Part A – Describe the teachings of Christianity about the sanctity of life in relation to euthanasia. ...
The law in England regarding euthanasia is that it is illegal.
The word euthanasia literally comes from the words “good death” in Greek. This alone would suggest that euthanasia in society should be acceptable as the word good is opposed to anything that is of an evil nature. ... Euthanasia is carried out traditionally when a person is in a lot of pain or suffering because of a terminal illness such as cancer or from an accident that paralysed them, leaving them without their independence or dignity.
Christians believe that God has a plan and a purpose for each person, for example someone may have been given life by God to discover a miracle drug or save another life, and if euthanasia, suicide, abortion or anything of that nature is carried out then we are stopping that event potentially happening and thwarting God’s purpose. ... Roman Catholics are absolutely against euthanasia as they believe that only God can make the decision to end someone’s life.
