Aucoin's Huge Goal Earns Isles Point Jason Blake took only two face-offs in the game, and won only one. It was a big one to say the least, as Blake's winning draw led directly to Adrian Aucoin's game-tying goal as the Islanders rallied from a 3-1 deficit to earn a key point in a 3-3 tie with the Bruins before 16,408 at the Fleet Center. Bad Start Sergei Samsonov scored thirty-two seconds into the game to put the Islanders into an early hole. It was Samsonov's first goal since returning from an injury that cost him nine games. Samsonov now has twenty points in nineteen career games against the Islanders. Even After One Mariusz Czerkawski grabbed a temporary share of the club goal scoring lead, when he tied the game with his fourteenth goal of the season at 12:43. Radek Martinek earned an assist. Key Goal For a Rookie I Patrice Bergeron, the youngest player in the NHL [born 7/24/85] gave the Bruins the lead late in the second period with a power play tally. Shawn Bates was in the penalty box at the time, so the goal ended the Islanders' perfection since Christmas on the pk. The Islander bench did not like the Bates call, and received a minor for abusive language after the Bruins took the lead. McCarthy a Thorn in Isles Side...Again Sandy Mc Carthy scored his third goal of the season 2:40 into the third period to give the Bruins a 3-1 lead. It was McCarthy's four career goal against the Islanders and his first in the last twenty games. Key Goal For a Rookie II Trent Hunter brought the Islanders within one at the 7:50 mark. It was the club-leading fifteenth goal of the season for the Islander rookie. Hunter continues to lead all NHL rookies in goals [15], points [25], winning goals [5], shooting percentage [17.0%] and +/- [+10]. Aucoin Gets Them Even Four minutes later, Adrian Aucoin's blast from just inside the blue line eluded Felix Potvin to get the Islanders even. The game would end that way. 3-3 Final. Road Warriors The Islanders end the road trip 1-1-1 and are 3-1-1 in their last five road games. It's their best road streak since going 4-1-1 in a six-game stretch last March.
