Group minds is a passage adapted from a lecture given in 1985 by Doris Lessing, a well known British novelist. She describes that being a member of a group can influence decisions and/or behavior. People may have the idea they are citizens of a free society and they choose their own opinions. But as a member of a group we tend to think as that group does.
As an individual you can make decisions for yourself, but as a group you tend to go with the majority. Lessing's proposal is saying just that. You can say that you're making decisions for yourself, but if you're in a group the majority will influence that person to think that they are making a decision for themself, but they are really making it because of the group. One of my experiences is when me and my friends went to the movies. My friends insisted to me that we should see a certain movie while I strongly suggested we see another. It was more of them so I gave in and saw the movie they wanted to see...
