Arthritis is inflammation in the joints. There are two main types of arthritis, osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Osteoarthritis is the most common type of arthritis. It affects one out of every eight people between the ages of 18 and 79. Osteoarthritisis developed when you cartilage is warn out and bones start to rub against each other. Rheumatoid arthritis is the second most popular type of arthritis, effecting more than three million Americans. This is a symmetric disease usually affecting the same joints on the other side of the body. Rheumatoid arthritis causes inflammation in the joints, it also may affect the heart, lungs and eyes of some patients and can cause an overall feeling of sickness and fatigue as well as weight loss and fever.
