Francie Nolans Aspirations

Throughout Betty Smith's novel A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, the reader gained knowledge about Francie and her expectations of school. Some of the things that Francie wished for were equal treatment in spite of her poverty and companionship between her and some of her classmates. I shared some of the aspirations that Francie had, yet some of my expectations of school differed greatly.
Ever since Francie was a child, she considerably enjoyed reading and exploring the world through books. This leisure time activity inspired Francie to want to become a writer. Francie also found companionship through the characters in the books that she read. Through reading, Francie hoped to earn the same relationship amongst her peers when she enrolled in school. The day finally came when Francie got to go to school, but as the day progressed all of her wishes began to crumble. The children, particularly the girls referred to as the teacher's pets, taunted Francie because of her poverty. Even Francie's teacher treated her poorly and didn't want to help Francie learn...
