If you are like most people, to you, war is synonymous with blood, death, destruction and mayhem. While the destruction component is certainly true, few realize the fact that war can play an important part in keeping a country healthy. To prove this theory, World War I and its effects on Canada will be discussed. Canada benefited from WWI in many ways. First, Canada was finally recognized as a truly independent and separate nation and not “Britain’s little brother” by many countries. Second, the war has contributed to the rights of women by giving them a restricted right to vote and employing more women in the workforce.. Finally, the war created many jobs, strengthening the economy.
