In the dawn of the 21st century the world is faced with global warming and the UN answers the call with the drafting of the Kyoto Protocol. Because of the currently increasing occurrence of global warming and increased carbon concentration in the atmosphere, several environmental and social catastrophes will be imposed on Earth. In addition, the protocol itself is justified for it takes the economic condition of developed and developing countries unto consideration. Lastly, the Canadian public seems to support the worthy clause. Therefore, the Kyoto Protocol is indeed a step forwards for a better future that holds improved global climate, economically strong industries and global co-operation in store for the human race.
Firstly, the reduction of carbon dioxide is crucial in order to avoid environmental global catastrophes. Increase in carbon dioxide concentration leads to a rise in temperature from 6 to 8 degrees Fahrenheit (Loyd Jackson/2003). This increase causes the rising of tides (or sea level) damaging or destroying several ecosystems and biodiversity. Furthermore, this growth is perilous with regards to health. An average man and woman's life expectancy would fall dramatically because they become prone to several diseases...
