Psychology is a term that stems from a combination of Greek expressions; 'Psyche', which means 'mind' or 'soul' and 'Logos', which means, 'the study of'. (Hill, G, 1998. p.1). It was from this idea that Wilhelm Wundt developed his ideas of Introspection. Later, technical problems arose as the subject expanded. A literal definition proved inappropriate, as psychologists had developed theories derived from different perspectives. This had arisen due to Psychology's complex origins from within the spheres of Philosophy, Biology and Physics and its consequent development into a variety of manifestations from behaviourism to cognition, and psychodynamics to humanism. However, definitions have been formulated and to some extent universally agreed upon.
