Genghis Khan, The Cultural Genius
"Violence never settles anything" (Khan). What an unexpected quote from a man who is revered as a violent ruler, and even in light of such contradiction, Genghis Khan lived his life striving for one goal. He was born the son of a Chieftain, and was taught from birth that his people are the most important thing in his life, so he always intended to do the best he could to make a better life for his people. Along the way to becoming a dominating military genius, he learned many things about the value of his culture and why it should be his primary goal to support them. Through meetings of other ambassadors, he united a nation of Mongol tribes and is now considered to be one of the most famous of cultural geniuses (internet).
The man most popularly as "Genghis Khan" was born from his father Yesugei the Brave, who was a Chieftain for the local Mongols, and was also the nephew of the former khan (ruler) of the Mongol tribe. Yesugei named his son Temujin, after a Tatar chieftain whom he had taken prisoner at the time of the child's birth. The subject of native folklore, one story says that the newborn infant was to have held in his hand a large clot of blood, thus presaging the future career of the world conqueror.
