Imagine a world without it's natural wonders, without clean water or enough trees to support adequate life, where the rich live off the poor, a planet where extinction is dramatically accelerated and humans are next. This destruction is occurring today at the cost of everyone. Corporations have been slowly killing our world. However we continue to be self-motivated individuals and support their purpose. Although they are powerful enough to have such a terrible effect on Earth , without the consumers they are no more powerful than you and I.
According to The Profit Imperative, from The Rules of Corporate Behavior, if a corporation doesn't produce then it will not make profit and therefore will not survive. Since we are their only legitimate source of profit, we are able to get the final decision whether they live or not. For example, if a corporation is producing products that the consumers do not like then we will not purchase their products. And since that will cause them to have no revenue coming in, they are not able to function properly as a business and be forced to close down (class discussion). Although they seem to have the financial power to throw their weight around, if you think about it, since the beginning of their existence we have been unconsciously supporting them while disregarding this simple fact of reality -- we are in control...
