Introduction
I regularly reviewed this case study patient with cancer of the vulva during her course of radiotherapy. When seen in the review clinic on the last day of treatment the groins, natal cleft and vulval skin areas were very sore and painful on movement. My aim was to provide adequate skincare and advice to ensure the patient felt more comfortable at home post radiotherapy.
Issues to discuss and reflect upon are:-

Cancer of the vulva can take many years to develop as it usually slow growing. The symptoms can present as itching, burning or soreness or even as a lump. This condition is a rare gynaecological cancer with approximately 1000 new cases a year. It occurs predominately in elderly women between 60-75 years old.
