Food provides us with the nutrients we need for healthy bodies, and calories provide the energy requirement of an individual. However, if the food you eat provides more calories than your body use up, the excess is converted to fat. You may become obese when too much fat is stored in your body. The World Health Organization adopts BMI to identify the level of the overweight and obese. It was found in 2001 that, there are 58 million overweight American people and 40 million obese ones, and the population is twice than in 1991 (from 27% to 61% in the total population).
