I find it ironic that the very same people who were beneficiaries of Affrimative Action are now against it. Affirmative Action wsa enacted because women and minorities were not given equal opportunities to better jobs, schooling and housing. You would think that in today times that, affirmative action would not be such an important aspect of everyday living but on the contrary, it is. If it weren't for the fact that businesses or schools had to be reminded of the fact that minorities are an intricate part of today's society, we would not need laws to govern our daily affairs. Without affirmative action where would we be?
For the African American, affirmative action is our only way to right the injustices that have been bestowed upon us. It was not too long ago that African Americans were used as a means to and end in order for white landowners to make a profit. African Americans were they only group of immigrants that were brought to America against their will. We did not come here with the hope or dream of having a better life for ourselves and our children. On the contrary, we were brought here beaten and shackled to one another...
