In researching this topic I discovered there is a wealth of information available. In all the materials it was apparent there are consistent themes that referenced values, beliefs and guidelines. The objective of this paper is to provide my definition of organizational behavior and tie in the five anchors into the discussion.
Organizational behavior is the interaction of a workforce at all levels which includes values, beliefs and guidelines under which the organization functions both internally and externally. These can be implicit and/or explicit. The discipline of organizational behavior studies the behaviors within an organization, makes an assessment and determines if behavior need change to meet their particular business challenge(s).
There are numerous reasons that make it essential for a company to understand its behavior. Every business is impacted to some degree by "external forces [ ] (which) may be economic, competitive, technological, social or political." (Bower) The text explains in detail that studying organizational behavior provides the opportunity to understand, influence and predict. This is essential to any company's survival...
