James Fennimore Cooper (1789-1851) was not only the first major American novelist, but also the author of the famous "A Rescue" from The Deerslayer. Some of Cooper's elements of his writing were that the main character had to be a brave, faultless hero; the main character goes through a "test" of physical danger; and also there's a hair-raising rescue at the end. Cooper's writing style has long outlasted him and is still present today. One of the many movies or television shows that use this same style is the Matrix trilogy. This style is evident throughout the Matrix trilogy, but is most apparent in the last movie, Matrix Revolutions.
"A Rescue" from The Deerslayer definitely has a brave and faultless main character. The Deerslayer is the main character in the story. He shows his brave and faultlessness when the Huron Indians capture him. The Hurons soon tie up the Deerslayer and throw axes at him, knives at him, and they shoot muskets at him. All the while, the Deerslayer is very brave and doesn't show he's scared...
