Impacts and Justification on Business processes
With the emergence of web technologies, it has allowed many businesses to enhance the learning experience and training of employees anywhere around the world. According to a recent article, NETg (a learning company) & Sun (a software & E-Business giant) formed an alliance which blends interactive & real business world learning scenarios to a web-based & traditional learning system for employees of their customers. This benefits their customers as it offers "customers with high quality training in a customisable format that best meets the needs of their employees". (NETg & Sun, 2002) With the technologies used, it allowed learning courses to be delivered in different methods to accommodate for the different learning styles of employees.
In today's busy environment, it is difficult and time consuming to organise a large group of people for training course or seminars let alone catering for the different learning styles of each person. American Airlines was experiencing similar problem as they employ over 24,000 flight attendants, thus the problem of training and informing employees about updated flight safety arises every year. In solving this problem, they have adopted a custom E-Learning process developed by IBM which converts text-based learning to interactive learning formats. The benefits of using this new application is that it caters for instant updates of flight safety rules via the internet, lower the development and distribution expenses for each year's new release of training modules and it also "reduced the risk of confidential information" leaked outside. (American Airlines, 2003) Employees are now about to log onto one web address (URL) from anywhere in the world to complete their "safety certification" at their own pace. Such technology helped improved the learning experiences of employees as it is "highly interactive and the employees enjoy the various approaches it offers"...
