Video Games: #1 Instigator?
Video games that involve so many sort of violence are found all over shelves of stores where you and maybe your children shop every day. Actually, the National Coalition of TV Violence conducted a survey on Nintendo video games and found that 105 out of 150 games surveyed had some form of high-level violence. Now despite the amount of games containing these "high levels of violence", we do not see murder cases on the news every day relating to some kid who went wild because of the countless hours spent on his Nintendo. ... As a matter of fact, it would be extremely difficult to go through the course of a day without encountering some sort of aggressive language, violent television programs, perhaps witnessing a violent act, or just a simple video game that is most likely filled with shooting and/or killing. "Most mental health experts, however, do not feel that video games encourage violence or criminal behavior. ... Even the opinion of mental health experts in America shows that these games are not affecting peoples behavior. ... " With this obvious proof that Japans entertainment industry is even more violent and/or scandalous, we must come to the conclusion that video games have very little to do or even not at all with these aggressive behavioral tendencies.
