We all remember seeing or at least hearing the documentaries on African-American discrimination during the 1950s and 1960s. This was a period of America's History that still embarrasses the country today. This discrimination toward the African-American race is much like that of India's caste system in that certain social classes must keep to their own kind, people couldn't change their social status, and positive changes occurred to improve the quality of life.
During the 1950s and 1960s, consisted of only two main social class which were white and black. African-Americans were basically the lower class of America. They had to sit in the back of buses and were not allowed in many stores and restaurants due to their color or ethnicity. This was when the idea of segregation manifested throughout the United States. There were certain areas where African-Americans lived and went to schools.
