Text The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame distinctly presents the idea that the initiation of a journey, whether it is the process involved in achieving a goal or simply the course of self-discovery, is influenced by a series of factors.
In the text, both, factors that enhance the journey and factors that hinder the journey are present.
Visions of experiences that benefit the individual such as the sites listed by Toad and hopes of achievement can enhance the initial part of the journey through motivation. In the text, Toad is motivated and excited about the opportunities for new experiences that the journey may bring. Toad excitedly lists the new experiences or benefits, "The open road, the dusty highway, the heath, the common, the hedgerows, the rolling downs!"
The short sentences and exclamation marks clearly demonstrate the excitement involved in Toads visions. It seems to suggest that the excitement associated with the journey, extremely motivates Toad.
