"Sunset Song" by Lewis Grassic Gibbon is a Scottish novel which was set at the start of the twentieth century prior to the first world war. It tells the story of Chris's journey through life. I enjoyed the book, it was very emotional; and touched me at particular points. This essay shall discuss the lives of characters that are disrupted for bad by force. By referring to the text it shall show the attitude to the disruptive element developed in the course of the narrative.
The characters of Chris and Ewan are greatly affected by war. At the outbreak of war, their lives are untouched by it. Instead they concentrate on their own lives. They concentrate on married life, having a child and working the land. At the outbreak of war Kinraddie on a whole were not affected and did not have much interest as they thought it didn't affect them...
