Plymouth Rock and the Pilgrims

Upon landing in Massachusetts, coming from Holland, there were many problems that the Pilgrims were faced with. In 1608, when they were living in Holland, they were a group of Separatists that, after negotiating with the Virginia Company, secured rights to settle in their territory in the New World. As Puritans, they weren't well liked by anyone, seeing that they were trying to purify the rest of the religion in England, and the English didn't like the changes. So, under persecution, they went to Holland, but later wanted to leave because they didn't like the changes that were happening to their children there, they were undergoing "Dutchification", which they were highly distressed about. So, they set their deal up with the Virginia Company, and were ready to set sail for the New World.
On their crowded ship, the Mayflower, they arrived in the New World, but they had missed their mark and they landed at Plymouth, in 1620, off the stony coast of New England. They arrived with a total of 102 people one person had died, and one had been born. An incredibly short casualty list. They surveyed the land around the area that they had landed at, and finally decided to make the inhospitable Plymouth Bay their home. This was outside the domain of the Virginia Company, and they became squatters, there without legal right, and no right to establish government of any kind...
