King and Queen- The king owned all the land in his kingdom. He would give land to many barons so not one baron could have all the power. The queen produced the male heirs so that one of them could be the next king. She also ran manors and organized servants.
Barons- A baron had too much land to take care of by himself, so he gave smaller sections to knights. Knights would swear an oath of loyalty to the lord who had given them the land and they would protect the baron in return.
Bishops and Abbots- Bishops controlled the local monasteries and land. The bishops and abbots would advise the kings and noblemen in a time of need. Some of them had their own armies and would let the noblemen borrow their armies for war.
Dukes, Earls, and Counts- Dukes, earls, and counts were nobles whose offices at one time a king had created...
