The Book of Job is present in the Holy Bible today and touches upon many themes, deeper than in other books of the Bible. This book is written in a different language, almost like an epic poem, comparative to The Iliad and The Odyssey. It seems that most of the book is written in poetry but some parts are in prose. Job is described in the first book as a down to earth man who feared God, but at the same time he saw that God gave him many blessings. Job also undergoes a testing of his faith. Throughout this book the question repeats itself “Why do bad things happen to good people?”
Satan appears before the Lord and suggests that in order to see how deeply Job loves and praises God and his word he should be put to a test. Satan which means “the adversary” is almost certain that Job will curse God after he doesn’t have the things he is now in possession of.
