The essence of a successful life is the ability to set oneself a goal and base every action upon attaining that goal; when one is given that ability, one is likewise a leading light of humanity. Ever since I can remember, I have been wanting to study Medicine. Attending a university, which not only provides a diverse student body but also accentuates on a student’s academics and most significantly a student’s ambition and fortitude is the foremost step towards realizing my aspiration. Having researched many universities throughout the country, I have realized that the only university that meets my provisions in every respect is the George Washington University. In 1968 my father while practicing as a guest doctor at Walter Reed Hospital was offered a permanent position as a general surgeon at the George Washington University Hospital, which he had rejected in order to practice medicine in our homeland Afghanistan.
