Upon reading Ingrid Tomeys, Nobody Else Has to Know, I learned the virtue of courage. Many people in our society today do not value courage, consequently proving the cowardly and narcissistic society we live in today. Courage should be respected by oneself and always grasped more and more by each life experience.
Webber the protagonist of the novel is an average teenage boy who is infatuated with running. His one love of life is his talent and desire to run track. His great future and hopes are shattered upon a devastating car accident. As the book begins it is made obvious of the devastating death of Webbers father upon saving a man from drowning in a frozen lake. Webber throughout the novel is haunted by the death of his father. On a brisk fall day in the beginning of the school year, Webber returning from running his fastest 1600 meter time ever is rejoicing and reliving his experience in his mind. His grandfather, his mentor and best friend drives by and offered him a ride home...
