Analysis and Evaluation of the Implementation, Development and Results of an Analysis System in Cricket and Volleyball.
This report is going to use Notational analysis to devise two systems to analyse aspects of an amateur game of volleyball and cricket. It will also detail how each analysis system is tailored to suit volleyball and cricket respectively. The report will also explain the undeniable importance of performance analysis and feedback within the sporting world.
As stated above, analysis of performance is vital for the progression of any sports player. Hughes and Franks (1997, pg2) undermined its value stating, 'Information that is provided to the athlete about action is one of the most important variables affecting the learning and subsequent performance of a skill'
Notational analysis provides detailed information on specific elements of an individual's game, from which training programmes can be devised which focus on the weaknesses highlighted by the system.
Analysis system for Volleyball
The analysis system designed for volleyball will focus on a performer at the beginner's level and assess their performance in each of the positions on a volleyball court.
The analysis system for volleyball is very simplistic because of the standard of the players which it was analyzing.
The objective of this system was to note the strengths and weaknesses of each player in each of the set positions.
