Not much is known of Henry Hudson's life before 1607, but the things that we do know about him are pretty amazing. It is said that he probably learned his craft and skills by traveling with other, older sea travelers, explorers, and voyagers. He might have even sailed with John Davis on one of his voyages to the Arctic. After all this experience with other explorers, by the time he was on his first voyage ever, he was the captain. There has never been a live portrait of Henry Hudson. There were, however, some portraits of him in his deathbed.
Henry Hudson had a vision of a northwest passage. He believed that it was there. He built it up so much, that the disappointment was humungous. Hudson always had a crew with him that up rose and caused him to make decisions that he really didn't want to make...
