Urban legends spread because just about everyone likes to tell, hear and believe a "good" story. It is part of human nature. We live in a society of story believers and storytellers. As you will see that also includes memaybe you too.
The Internet has acted as a catalyst in the spread of urban legends and false reports. I recently fell victim to an Internet hoax regarding the recent blackout in the Northeast. I received a photo from a well-intentioned individual that was allegedly a satellite photo taken during the blackout. This immediately grabbed my attention because I live in New York City and was directly affected by the blackout. I now have strong reason to believe this photo is false.
