Servant Leader Model and My Workplace

It did not take me reading the article "The Search for the Spirit in the Workplace" to know that in today's work environment that effort and longevity count for little or nothing. Not only that, but there is also constant change with much stress and insecurity along with long work weeks from time to time and having to make difficult decisions piled on top of all the other things. The workplace today needs something that will help alleviate some of these things. I believe that something is the application of the concept of servant leadership. In my own workplace, the application of this concept would be useful in motivating employees, helping managers to accomplish tasks or goals, and strengthening the company as a whole.
In any business of any kind, motivating people to not only do their jobs but to exceed expectations of job performance can be difficult to say the least. I see the servant leadership model method of motivating people in my workplace as being very effective. Overall the people I work with definitely are more satisfied with their jobs if they know that they are going to be recognized for their efforts as well as be rewarded. They also like to be challenged and to know that greater opportunities may be available to them as they progress. When they see that management believes in them they will go the extra mile to accomplish goals and deadlines and will also work as many hours as are necessary in doing so...
