Steve Lacy, Lift the Bandstand, was a documentary describing the influences that has progressed him into the band that he is currently part of as a Soprano saxophone player. Mr. Lacy did not grow up with any musical influences in his house; rather his first and few memories of music were from New York and inspired him to pursue this field. When he was thirteen years old he purchased his very first saxophone and began to teach himself how to play the very difficult instrument. After graduating college at the age twenty-one Mr. Lacy moved to New York and got his first job in a Jazz ensemble which lasted sixteen weeks.
