Trainspotting is a book written by Irvine Welsh. Irvine Welsh is an author from Edinburgh and he has written many other books such as Glue, Malibu Stork Nightmares, The Acid House, Porno and Filth.
Trainspotting has also been made into a contempary film starring Ewan MacGregor, Johnny Lee Miller, Ewen Bremner, Kevin McKidd and Robert Carlyle, and is directed by Danny Boyle.
Book critics have given this book much praise, The Herald, Independent on Sunday, The Sunday Times and Rebel Inc have all reviewed the book and made positive comments. The best book ever written by man or woman deserves to sell more copies than the Bible' Rebel Inc
Trainspotting is the story of Mark Renton and his group of friends, 'a bunch of losers, liars, psychos, thieves and junkies'. It is based in Edinburgh, and is the story of the drug scene and how this group of friends were involved.
Mark Renton is an ex heroin addict, but the start of the book (and film) has him cooking and shooting up again. His close friends, Begbie, Sick Boy, Spud and Tommy are users as well, though one character is against heroin and one is against sharing needles.
The plot follows Mark as he falls once again into the cycle of heroin addiction, and how he wants to beat it. Mark wants to better himself, but is worried about the things he will have to face...
