A hero does not have to leap tall buildings in a single bound like Superman, or perform great feats of strength like the Incredible Hulk. In fact, my hero is quite the opposite of the traditional caped and masked figure. My hero, Mahatma Gandhi, or more commonly known as just Gandhi, promoted ideals of freedom and peace and led his country's population when it was forced to into poverty and suppression.
Gandhi had shown great intellect during his great voyage for freedom in India. Knowing that he and his followers would be no match for the guns of the British, Gandhi took the unconventional approach. By using his knowledge as a professional lawyer, he was able launch massive campaigns of passive resistance against British rule using the principle of "satyagraha", or morals of truth and firmness.
A hero must also show signs of leadership. In the entire history of India, only one man has been able to unite the two major religions of the country, Hindi and Muslim. Believers of these two religions have fought for control of the country for many years, resorting to many acts of violence.
