Slaughterhouse Five was not meant to be analyzed, it is a great novel that has a confusing plot at times but in no possible way should this story be ripped apart and looked at through a microscope. He presents ideas very simply, it is not because he fails at seamlessly weaving in themes but it is because he does not want the reader to rip apart his novel either. Even the Vonnegut in the story does not enjoy being over analyzed as when “Mary had prepared an operating room,” just before he was judged unfairly by Mary.
