Many Americans went to war healthy. Although when they came back, they were sick and no one knew why. They would go to their doctors and were told they had the flu and were treated for flu symptoms. Then they went to more army training and became more sick. So they went to their family doctors. There they found out they Gulf War Syndrome, but they came to find out that the goverment was not going to help them so most went untreated.
Some of the causes of the Gulf War Syndrome were the pesticoides used during the Gulf War. The soldiers were givin pills and shots daily, but they were only safe if used by themselves, not mixed with other drugs. When the drugs were taken with another drug the person's chance of being harmed by simple bug repellent increaed one hundred times. There were oil fiels in Iraq and the smoke from them could have harmed the soldiers as well...
