Dred Scott vs. Sanford: Paving the way to freedom
Probably one of the most controversial and history affecting cases in the United States to take place would be the Dred Scott vs. Sanford. It retires any kind of phrase that would metaphorically represent trying regardless of winning being guaranteed or not. Our story and a true one begins in 1799 in Virginia where an African American man by the name of Dred Scott was born. He would soon not only inspire but motivate men to make a difference and realize that just because a color of skin was not the same, they were still a person and have their own rights. This slave from Virginia would start a revelation; he'd be a key that would begin to unlock the civil war. From birth until 1830 he was owned by the Blow family, who then sold him to John Emerson in Missouri shortly after the Missouri Compromise is passed. Through traveling with Emerson to slave trades he met his wife and begun his family with two children.
