Introduction
Yeast is one of the living cells, which can respire aerobically, and anaerobic in this investigation we are just taking into consideration respiration as whole. The equation of respiration in yeast is:
There are different variables in this experiment. These consist of the range in temperature and concentration of glucose used. These variables are important and change the way in which yeast respires. I shall be choosing the range in temperature as the variable to study to see if it affects the rate of respiration.
Prediction
In this experiment the temperature shall affect the way in which respires because the yeast is known
Preliminary investigation
In this experiment there shall only be one variable changed which is the temperature of the water however all the other variables must be constant. These include the volume of yeast suspension and glucose solution. I have chosen to use 6 cm of yeast and I used 3 cm of glucose solution and these two substances shall be poured into a boiling tube. The experiment must be done several times in order for fair testing. A sample shall be made of what the hydrogen carbonate indicator will look like when carbon dioxide is present...
