Feminism and the 21st Century
Women traditionally had been regarded as inferior to men physically and intellectually. Both law and theology had ordered their subjection. In the past, women could not possess property in their own names, engage in business, or control the disposal of their children or even of their own persons. Today, things are much different for the average female. Most of that is all thanks to the feminist movement. Little by little, women's demands for higher education, entrance into trades and professions, married women's rights to property, and the right to vote was conceded. Today, women are treated almost exactly like men - the key word being almost. Today's feminist still believes there is much ground left to cover before all women can be treated as equals. The seemingly endless struggle for women's equality has had a tremendous affect on three major areas: men, the media, and other women.
