Entertainment is, considered by many, the escape of a tortuous reality. We can find ourselves lost amongst the pages of a novel, relating ourselves with the roles words convey to us, or shed tears along a character while he moves across different dismays in order to succeed. Regardless of the self opinion we harness of Entertainment, and the many ways in which we receive it, it is something that the last century made sure to accentuate. A sub-genre of Entertainment is Cinema, subject in which I would like to focus. Just in this past century, two important associations were born in order to sponsor movie-making: The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and Hollywood Foreign Press Association. The former celebrating the excelling participations of actors and movie crew alike, the latter awarding with a winged-figure statue not only movies, but television as well.
Taking as a starting point facts, rumors and even now video-games, movies have managed to expand across generations, creating genres that adapt to everyone's likes and dislikes. This can also be considered as advertisement, for movies that utilize merchandises like the video-game industry, or the recently used amusement park rides! that not only entertain crowds during the playing of a film, but also attract them into the buying of the game or visiting the a particular theme park.
As mentioned above, some movies may help us take our minds off trouble, while other may bitterly remind us certain things...
