Pfizer-Information Technology Plan
The recent Pfizer/Pharmacia acquisition has created quite challenging projects for information technology professionals to tackle. On a daily basis, IT professionals are faced with integration obstacles. They must not only keep up new emerging technology but also must learn the terminology that comes along with it. The question becomes, "Where is Pfizer deciding to spend IT dollars when they could potentially go in so many different avenues?"
According to Michael A. Nelson, Financial Manager of Corporate Information Technology, "Recent projects have included wireless networks, IT telephony and VMware. We are in the process of installing wireless networks at most Pfizer locations." 1 As a result, employees will be able to connect to the network anywhere in the building without having to find a network station. Although there are security risks associated, employees traveling to other sites will save a vast amount of time.
