Fahrenheit 451 is a fiction novel about what the world would be like in the future. As it turns out, Fahrenheit 451 is becoming more and more like a nonfiction book in many senses. ... Some of the similarities of our culture and the culture in Fahrenheit 451 are that in our society, which is becoming more and more technologically advanced, individuals are demanding things to become faster and faster. As with the society in Fahrenheit 451, everything is available instantly. Another similarity in our society and the society in Fahrenheit 451 is that things that may have been considered dangerous and uncommon, such as murder, is becoming an everyday thing in our society, and was even more routine in the Fahrenheit 451 society. ... The American society and the Fahrenheit 451 societies, both have issues of what is right, and what is and should be accepted in the world.
In both the society in Fahrenheit and our modern American society, individuals are demanding things to become faster and faster. As with the society in Fahrenheit 451, everything is fast and accessible basically at the stroke of a fingertip. ... If the people today continue to accept government censorship, our society will end up like the society in Fahrenheit 451, in which the government controls their lives, and does not let them be exposed to different ideas than what the government sees fit. ... As a result of censoring out these materials our society can end up like the society in Fahrenheit 451 in the fact that the government can make certain agencies, such as the firemen who burn books, to stop us from sharing other people’s ideas.
