Jonathan's Plunge
There was a small hill that went down to the stream of water by our house. On the side of this hill was a huge tree looming over the slope creating the perfect branches for a rope swing. The rope swing was majestic and exciting. Part of the excitement came from the drop off and large rocks at the bottom as you swung to the far reaches and then back again to safety.
I was 4 and outside in the cool summer breeze swinging on our swing set chain. I wanted to get stronger so that I could have more fun on our rope swing. My sister Kathleen, age 9, came out of our house and asked if I wanted to swing with her. After this time of practicing I felt confident and told her sure.
Kathleen picked me up and let me hang on the rope. I hung there in the air on the rope for a few seconds while she prepared and we swung out...
