Movement Education Lesson Plan for the "Hello Dance"
General Overview:
To follow is a lesson plan created for children in grades three to five. It touches on a variety of movement themes throughout the lesson for maximum participation and learning. The movement themes that are involved in this lesson include body awareness, space awareness, imagery/visualization, effort awareness, relaxation and relationship awareness. The entire lesson will be approximately twenty minutes including warm up and cool down activities.
Grade/Age Level: grades 3-5
Hint: This dance could be modified to suit higher grade levels (gr. 6-8).
Length of Lesson: 20 minutes
Equipment:
-ghetto blaster
-extension cord
-CD titled Dancing All Over the Place, volume #3, track #8
-flags of Canada, Denmark, Japan and France
General Safety Concerns:
Please make sure there is no debris or equipment lying on the floor and that everyone is wearing proper shoes with all laces tied. Also, make sure the extension cord for the ghetto blaster is not hanging an area where the children will be moving.
Hint: Before the class, set up and test all stereo equipment to avoid any wasted time.
